CIMERA® - the multi-purpose solution for thin sandwich material
The aim of CIMERA® is to achieve weight reduction in thin-walled components (0.5 – 3mm) fabricated from monolithic materials such as steel, aluminum, glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP), or carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP). This is accomplished by substituting these materials with a cost-effective microsandwich composite, which offers enhanced structural efficiency and material performance.

For lightweight applications that aim to maximize weight savings while meeting high bending stiffness requirements, the CIMERA® sandwich material offers a wide range of possibilities due to its varied material composition.
By combining metals and plastics, it is possible to create products with a broad spectrum of desired properties. The selection of appropriate materials allows for the optimization of numerous mechanical characteristics, such as weight, bending stiffness, formability, and temperature resistance.
To achieve material compositions with such a wide range of adjustable properties, suitable core materials are essential. The core material MILLIFOAM® from 4a manufacturing provides the necessary advantages, including tight thickness tolerance and excellent draping characteristics, which are crucial for innovative material solutions.
